Whether we like it or not, November also starts the season of shopping. The so-called "Christmas creep", Cyber Monday, and Black Friday (alternatively known as Buy Nothing Day). This year is no different, and in fact there's a storm brewing over stores choosing to open, or not open, on Thanksgiving Day. Whatever your view, we'd like to encourage you to vigorously participate in Small Business Saturday this November 30 - the Saturday after Thanksgiving - perhaps even as an alternative to cutting your Thanksgiving short in order to be first in line at a Black Friday sale. Aussie Doodle Acres is itself a small business, and we support and give thanks for the success of all small businesses every chance we get.
As in other months, November also seeks to raise awareness about a number issues. In addition to Movember, this month asks that you learn more about Alzheimer's Disease, Diabetes, Lung Cancer, Pancreatic Cancer, Epilepsy, and COPD. That list gives a lot of reasons to quit smoking, and you can join the Great American Smokeout if you or someone you know needs to quit. To improve your health whether you smoke or not, take advantage of the antioxidants and other beneficial nutrients in the stars of National Pomegranate Month and Sweet Potato Awareness Month, also taking place this November.
In the meantime, we hope you enjoy National Blog Posting Month as you read through this month's offering of health, science, canine interest, charity, and shopping articles we've harvested for your edification and enjoyment. Thanks as always for joining us this month at the DogBlog!
